Are you KIDDING me???

Well....update to the 'DSQ' saga.

First off, the next night of sliding I, not surprisingly, got good-natured ribbing from most that I passed. "Got your gloves?", "Don't forget your gloves"...etc, etc.

But here comes the 'D'OH' part... soon after posting my last blog one of my sliding aquaintances, who happens to be a jury member as well as 'materials commission' (ie:sliding equipment guru), sent me an email simply stating: "gloves are not a required piece of equipment".

WHHAAATT!!!?????

After 7 seasons of sliding and having ALWAYS thought gloves were required I learn they are not? And on top of it I throw away a race based on an incorrect assumption? Well....Dang! How crappy is that??

I had had an entire evening and day to think about the happenings. The reality is that I should have known that I could never have made it back to the start block before the start clock ran down and therefore I should have just accepted it and done my run regardless of if I had my gloves or not. Regardless of if I thought I was going to be DQed or not. And in the end...had I done that...well...I've now learned I would not have been DSQ!

Again...(and can't say it any better)...'D'OH'!!
